“Health Alert: Doctor Raises Cancer Concerns Over Air Fryers — Advises Public to Reconsider Their Use”

“Popular Kitchen Gadget May Pose Hidden Health Risks, Warns Longevity Expert”

Dr. Poonam Desai, a New York-based longevity specialist, is urging people to rethink their love for air fryers—despite their popularity in Australian kitchens. While these appliances are praised for using less oil than deep frying, Dr. Desai warns they may come with a hidden health cost.

She explains that cooking starchy foods like potatoes at high temperatures in air fryers can produce acrylamide, a chemical linked to an increased risk of cancer. But that’s not all—many air fryers contain PFAS, synthetic chemicals used in non-stick coatings that have also been associated with cancer and other health concerns.

Dr. Desai personally avoids air fryers altogether. However, for those who still use them, she recommends choosing a stainless steel model, and using it only occasionally.

Australian health authorities have responded, reassuring the public that air fryers are safe—as long as they’re free of PFAS.

In a separate health insight, Dr. Desai also challenges the common belief that skim milk is the healthier option. She advocates for whole milk, saying its natural fat content helps the body absorb essential vitamins like A and D, which are stripped during the skimming process and added back artificially. The fat in whole milk also slows glucose absorption, making it a better choice for blood sugar stability.

Her advice? Skip the skim, and opt for whole milk to support better nutrient absorption and balanced energy levels.
